Speaker Minds has appeared on a myriad of stages and at numerous events; The Festival of Positivity, Alberta Street Fair, Wild Goose West (Corvallis), Umoja Festival (Seattle), EcoPalooza, Fire in the Canyon, Seattle Hempfest, PO-HOP 12, and headlined at PDX Pop Now!, Speaker Minds has showed up and showed out! While the bank could be considered still in their career infancy, they’ve already toured through several states including Oregon, Washington, California, Arizona, Nevada, Idaho, Montana and Utah; They’ve had the privilege of playing shows with Hip Hop legends that include KRS-One, The Pharcyde, Del the Funky Homosapien, Gift of Gab, Dead Prez, Freeway and Jake One, The Coup, Black Milk, Masta Ace, Wordsworth, Lyrics Born, and Anthony B. In Portland, a city known for its indisputably talented local music scene, Speaker Minds has graced the stage with solidified local music royalty including Cool Nutz, The Chicharones, Farnell Newton, Doo Doo Funk All-Stars, Hanif, and many more.
Speaker Minds has released two projects in “Gumbo Grooves,” released in 2016, which features keys by the PDX Legend Tony Ozier and was released through Farnell Newton's and Tony Ozier’s label, FNBeatsGalore Records in conjunction with Ropeadope Records. Their 2nd project is titled “Wastelands,” released in 2018, recorded at Anjuna Records and features 7 original tracks that take you on a rollercoaster of upbeat funk and smooth soulful songs.
Portland native Randal Wyatt (lead vocals/emcee) established himself as a socially aware and charitable emcee before creating Speaker Minds. He has opened for rap legends such as Slick Rick, Goodie Mob, LMNO and Kev Brown, The Jacka, Immortal Technique, and The Beatnuts. When he wasn’t touring the West coast and Midwest, he was helping pioneer many notable Hip Hop oriented charity events in his city, as well as mentoring and providing opportunity for aspiring youth. By way of Hawaii, Agyei Marshall (guitar) is also an established songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who has supported some of Portland’s most iconic artists such as SlimKid3, Farnell Newton, and Brittni Paiva. He has opened for acts such as Roy Ayers, Lupe Fiasco, FLOATER, George Clinton, 311, DAZZ, and Karl Denson's Tiny Universe. Some of his works include ‘Summer Nitezzz’ by ToX!c, ‘Liberation’ EP by Adebisi, and Jessica Manalo's 'Magic' EP. Two songs of which, 'Magic' and 'Silence', were featured on Barack Obama's 2021 Summer Playlist. DLUX the Light / Desmond (Keyboard/Emcee) is a highly trained Pianist who is also an established emcee, spoken word artist and educator who is also one of the active members of Portland’s Youth Summit. Terrence Paschal is a Portland based drummer whose style bridges everything from hardcore to hip hop, all rooted in a love for groove and feel. He’s performed with bands including Hoods, The Bandulus, and Buddy Jay’s Jamaican Jazz Band, and currently holds down the rhythm for The Cascadians. Drawing inspiration from drummers like John Otto and Lloyd Knibb, Terrence brings precision, energy, and versatility to every stage he plays. Jon McGuire (Bass) hails from Salt Lake City and describes himself as young, hungry and filled with love of the funk. Hannah Dimo (lead vocals) is a versatile artist blending neo-soul, indie rock, and R&B with a touch of jazz sophistication. Inspired by the soulful sounds of Lianne La Havas, Yebba, and the dynamic energy of Beyoncé, Hannah's music is a reflection of her diverse influences. A recent graduate of Portland State University with a degree in Jazz Studies, she has been captivating audiences onstage and in the studio for over 15 years. Her work has gained recognition on local radio, and she is an active collaborator in Portland’s vibrant music scene, contributing to a variety of projects across multiple genres.
Adrian Adel (lead vocals) was a powerhouse singer bringing more than 20 years experience of soul stirring skills, singing with legendary local bands including Hungry Mob with Mic Crenshaw and Fatman with JR Pella. She is a true soul singing sister that will ignite a fire in your soul. She was the backbone of Speaker Minds for over a decade by providing unique songwriting, epic live performances, and creative graphic design for all of SM’s marketing platforms. On January 5th, 2025 she passed away leaving a beautiful legacy in the Portland music scene and a void that will never be filled due to her one of a kind talents. Her spirit encouraged us to reunite the band after a 5 year hiatus, and our new musical journey is forever dedicated to her!
